Welcome to Accidental WAHM

Hello and welcome to Accidental WAHM.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted on this blog, so long, in fact, that my old blog had completely disappeared off the face of the earth! Even though the blog had disappeared, I still had the domain, Facebook page & Twitter account. So, when I found myself staring down the barrel of being a WAHM once more, I thought it was as good a time as any to resurrect this blog.

For those new here, and anyone who had forgotten, a bit about me.

When my 14 year old son was 6 months old, I started my own business and ran it for over 9 years. When my now 12 year old was 7, I was told by Centrelink to get a job (I’m a single mum). I had lost passion for my business and closed it down. I got a job, in fact I had two! And I also rediscovered my love of writing fiction, publishing two kids books in the last few years.

Life was going along OK until three years ago.

Three years ago, my younger son, then age 9, came down with glandular fever which turned into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This means a lot of things, but the one that impacts on my life the most is the fact he can only go to school part time. Unfortunately the buses don’t run outside of school hours, so I’m leaving work in the middle of the day and picking him up to bring him home to rest.

Last Easter, my older son came down with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, meaning he hasn’t been at school since then, and has around three rehab appointments every week!

With all the boys appointments and the running around I do for them, I physically can’t work any more hours in my job than I can! So, I’m being dragged kicking and screaming back into the world of being a Work at Home Mum (maybe I should have called this Reluctant WAHM…?). The boys are also needing a part time job to earn some money! So, I’m looking for an idea that fits certain criteria… but more about that in the next post.

I hope you will share my journey on this blog. This will include business tips, things I’m learning, and re-learning, book reviews as I dust of business books on my book shelf, and anything else to do with being an accidental and reluctant work at home mum!
